Mycorrhizae are beneficial fungi that attach to plant roots and form a network of filaments. These filaments draw otherwise unreachable water and nutrients from the soil to the plant’s root system, acting almost as if they were extensions to the roots. This fungus-plant alliance has the effect of stimulating plant growth and promoting rapid root development.
